Total Time: Approximately 35-45 minutes
Servings: 4 to 6
Materials Required:
- Saucepan
- Stirring spoon
- Individual serving bowls or a large serving dish
Ingredients :
1 cup of white rice
4 cups of milk 4 teaspoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Optional toppings: raisins, nuts, or grated nutmeg
Procedure:
1. First, wash the rice thoroughly in cold water. Drain it and set it aside.
2. Then Boil the milk in a saucepan and put the rice in it stirring occasionally to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom.
3. Once the mixture starts boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for about 30- 40 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent skin from forming on the surface. After 30- 40 minutes, the rice should be tender and the mixture should have thickened.
4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let it cool for a few minute.
5. If desired, you can add raisins, nuts, or grated nutmeg to the pudding for extra flavor and texture. Stir them gently.
6. Now, transfer the rice pudding to individual serving bowls or a large serving dish. Sprinkle some ground cinnamon on top for added flavor and garnish. You can serve the rice pudding warm or chilled, according to your preference.
